It was just yesterday it seems, when you came to visit me at my home in Madison Hts. You were just 9 months old at the time. You were in your car seat and your hardy laughter is one thing I will never forget. You looked just your Uncle Don when you were a babe. In a blink of an eye you were at my home in Roseville. You might have been 9 at the time. You and i spent the afternoon painting my front porch. Oh how you made me laugh. Your nickname was Shashi. I never met a happier go-lucky never a care in the world man in my life that compares to you. Charlie you will be missed by all. Your laughter has touched the lives of hundreds. I am writing this with a deep, deep sorrow. I taught Charlie at Ardmore Elementary School. He was in my 2nd grade class. What a wonderful and loving boy he was. I will never forget us making gingerbread houses for Chirstmas that year and he just glowed with excitement to take his home. Then, last year Charlie walked up to me at a Relay for Life meeting and said do you remember me? How can I forget one of the nicest boys ever I told him. Charlie, you will be in my heart forever and we will honor you every year at Relay. Please know that I will keep fighting the fight against Cancer. I won't give up. My dear friend Charlie, Twenty one years ago, on a fall Michigan day, I bought my first snow plow truck from your dad. Who knew that a lifetime of friendship and love would develop between our families. I knew these past few days that your time was near and somewhere in heaven your grandpa was sitting at his kitchen table with a note pad, a pocket full of pens, and let's be honest- probably a 38 caliber on his waist- looking in the distance seeing you coming closer to him. This past Monday I pulled out of a closet one of your first Carhardt coats that Buddy wore, and then you and then my son, Andrew. I held it for a while and thought how time passes and the importance of family and friends. The memories and laughter we have shared will be with me for a lifetime. Charlie your warm smile and excitement to see a new red dump truck or loader is one of a kind. Albert Einstien said it best "We make a living by what we get and a lifetime by what we give." You, my friend, lived an entire life in 20 years. God Bless you and the entire Bush snow plow team.

Natalie, Rose, Gordy, and Buddy, I came into your wonderful family 14 years ago. I was totally in awe of a young man that just made me smile whenever I was around him. I especially enjoyed hearing about some of the adventures you had...especially the one about the mushrooms. I took advantage of that one but you did finally forgive me. Remember what I told you during several conversations? I told you that I had adopted you as my own nephew and you just had to deal with it. Your response-- with a huge smile -- was, well you will have to deal with the fact that I adopted you as my aunt so live with that. That conversion will live in my heart for life and will cherish every moment that we spent together. You will be terribly missed by all you touched.

It stalks the night, It stalks the day, It seeks out life And whisks it away. Its known as death And other things too, But its all the same What matters is you. How do you see it? What does it mean? Its best if you know For death is unseen. It can take you at day, It can take you at night, Knowing death well Can lend you some light. The most important thing that my little cousin Charlie and I talked about was being together with family. When it came down to it Charlie would have taken a night out with Natalie, family and friends over any possesions you could think of. I would like everyone to put this into their hearts and never forget it, becouse that's all Chuck ever wanted. . . . I ran into a stranger as he passed by, "Oh excuse me please" was my reply. He said, "Please excuse me too; I wasn't watching for you." We were very polite, this stranger and I. We went on our way and we said goodbye. But at home a different story is told, How we treat our loved ones, young and old. Later that day, cooking the evening meal, My son stood beside me very still. When I turned, I nearly knocked him down. "Move out of the way," I said with a frown. He walked away, his little heart broken. I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken. While I lay awake in bed, God's still small voice came to me and said, "While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use, but the family you love, you seem to abuse. Go and look on the kitchen floor, You'll find some flowers there by the door. Those are the flowers he brought for you. He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue. He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise , you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes." By this time, I felt very small, And now my tears began to fall. I quietly went and knelt by his bed; "Wake up, little one, wake up," I said. "Are these the flowers you picked for me?" He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree. I picked 'em because they're pretty like you. I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue." I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today; I shouldn't have yelled at you that way." He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay. I love you anyway." I said, "Son, I love you too, and I do like the flowers, especially the blue." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family -- an unwise investment indeed -- don't you think?

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Bush, I was one of Chuck's 6th grade teachers at Jefferson. As a teacher, I have had hundreds of children in front of me, some I distinctly remember more than others; Chuck is one of those children. Although it has been years since I have seen him, my memory of him is that he was a kind and likable guy - I know that is not something you have to be told. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity and an understanding of life that fills them with compassions, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen. And after your death, when most of you for the fist time realize what life here is all abour, you will begin to see that your life here is almost nothing but the sum total of every choice you have made during every moment of your life. Your thoughts, which you are responsible for, are as real as your deeds. You will begin to realize that every word and every deed affects your life and has also touched thousands of lives. I would like to add from the same Author. There is no joy without hardship. If not for death, would we appreciate life? If not for hate, would we know the ultimate goal is love?....At these moments you can either hold on to negativity and look for blame, or you can choose to heal and keep on loving. When you learn your lessons, the pain goes away.
