Charlotte Rogers Power, a beloved matriarch and devout Catholic, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the age of 93. She was born on October 25, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan and was the cherished middle child and only daughter of John and Rose Rogers.
Charlotte found the love of her life, John Power, with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. Together, they raised five daughters, instilling in them the values of faith, love, and family. A devout Catholic, Charlotte’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She and John ensured their daughters received a strong foundation by sending them to Catholic schools for both elementary and high school.
The Power family was a familiar sight at St. Jude Church, where John served as an usher. Every Sunday, Charlotte and her daughters would walk up the center aisle to the front rows of pews, making sure each daughter knew that they would have to behave. In her later years, when attending Mass in person was no longer possible, Charlotte never missed a livestream 4pm Mass from St. Joan of Arc.
Charlotte’s love for her family was boundless. Sunday dinners were a regular occurrence every week, whether there were six or twenty-six family members present. It was family time! Before John’s passing, the couple created cherished memories traveling and camping with their camper, often surrounded by family and friends. Charlotte also enjoyed baking cookies for her grandchildren, sewing, knitting, and reading. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan, cheering them on at football, baseball, soccer, and hockey games, and her pride in them shining through at every match or game.
Charlotte Power leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience, and she will be deeply missed.
She is welcomed into Heaven by her husband of 50 years, John Power. She is survived by her cherished daughters, Katherine Kalich, Mary Elizabeth Power, Suzanne (Martin) Mackowski, Beverly (James) Schiller, and Christine (Larry) Toporek; dear brother, Jim Rogers; adored grandchildren, Jessica (Tim) Darmafall, Marty (Alexa) Mackowski, Christopher (Sarah) Kalich, Patrick (Marissa) Mackowski, Ashley (Ty) Gilstad, Michael (Lexi) Mackowski, Megan Schiller, Rachel Toporek, and Alex Toporek; cherished great-grandchildren, Madeline, Ryan, Hannah, Connor, Charlotte, Henry, Theodore, Laine, Tristan, and Marty IV.
