I knew David through business only and very much appreciated his high standards and straight forwardness in this arena. I am sure he will be greatly missed by those left behind.

Dave and I shared many great times in "Harrad House", the dormetory we shared at MSU. We both loved the music of the early 70's, and he introduced me to several groups that I still listen to regularly. One of them was SRC, "Scott Richard Case", who peformed in his basement before they hit the charts.

I first met David when he was a young, learning assistant manager at my Jefferson-Shook Office. In my 37 years in banking, no one who worked for me demonstrated more poise, confidence and professionalism so early in his career. I use to say he was "fearless". Whether he knew how to handle the customer's request or not, he never flinched, researched the answer, and never lost the customer's respect (and mine). I am not surprised he went on to be a Vice President, but I was shocked to hear of his early passing. My sympathies to his family and everyone who knew and loved him.

Mr. Ball, Its an understatement to say that you will be missed. You were a father figure to all of us "guys" over the years and had a positive impact on all of us. I hope that you understand how grateful we are for all the things youve done for us over the years. Ill always remember the rounds of golf, ski trips, and other occasions over the years. Remember not to swing too fast, think fairways and greens, and youll be putting for eagles and birdies on the golf course in the sky. Thank you for everything.

Mr. Ball I can honestly say that it was a pleasure to have known you over the years. You were an amazing father and grandfather to Jeff and his growing family, as well as a second father to all of us, and yet that only made up a small piece of what a great man you were. There have been many small moments over the years that will make up many memories for years to come. You will be truly missed by all of us.

There aren't words to describe how David touched my life as well as the lives of my children. I never thought of David as just a "boss" because he was so much more than that. David was more of a father figure to me that I looked to for guidance. He was always there to listen and support you no matter what. I had to do a project on Tuesday night with my oldest daughter Kennedy and we went through pictures and David was in so many. He was at every birthday party on the floor playing with my kids like they were his own. When my mom got sick I turned to David to help me through it because at times I didn't think I would make it. He was always there for me. I try to think of the good times we had like the Eminem concert and having dinner with Gordon Ramsay. He was an amazing man and anyone who met him is better for it. David will be missed more than words can describe.

I worked wih David many times while an assistant mangager on Comerica's support team. It was always a pleasure to go to his office as he made you feel like you worked with him every day and were a part of his team. He was such a kind and caring person and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace and may God be with your family during this time of sadness.

David Ball was an energetic and entertaining fellow resident at Michigan States Holden Hall. With Chris Beaupre as a roommate  my experience was similar to his. The three of us crammed a lot of fun into those first two years at the university. Undergraduate classes and other distractions would interfere with that fun, but Dave was always ready with his uniquely entertaining mischief. The social change that was taking place, the Vietnam war, incredible music and altered ways of looking at the world, made our Holden Hall/Harrad House days memorable. Glad I had a chance to know Dave  its been a great ride, may you rest in peace.

I was sad tb hear that Davd had passed. I worked with him for several years, he always made me feel welcome when I worked at his office. He will be greatley missed but heaven has a new jewel to behold.

To Jennifer and family Our deepest condolences on your sad loss.

David and I were best of friends all through High School (Birmingham Groves). My wife, Mary, who also attended Groves was a good friend of David's too. We had a lot of fun together. Our friendship was a powerful force in my life. David and I talked about everything under the sun during our high school years. We figured out the world together. I am pretty sure that I had no friend who knew me better in those days. I am also pretty sure that I knew David as well as anyone. David was an extraordinary person. He was so bright, but also had a caring and sensitive nature that is so rare in this world. Although I didn't have much contact with Dave since our High School days (although we recently connected on Face Book), I can honestly say that I remained close to Dave in my heart over all these years, because of the special person he was, and the special friendship we enjoyed. A friendship which I still hold dear and always will. I'll miss you Dave. My heart felt condolences to Dave's family and all those who knew and loved him. David was my first boss when I started with the bank. Starting your first job can be very overwhelming, but David made it less intimidating. He truly was the nicest, friendliest, most caring boss a person could have. He taught me about the kind of boss and person that I would like to be. Over the years when I ran into him he was as friendly as ever. He will truly be missed.

I will not be able to attend David's funeral, as my son is graduating from high school at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Just wanted you to know that I always enjoyed David, and his wonderful stories. He was a joy to all of us here at Lake Shore Presbyterian, and will be remembered fondly for years. His contagious enthusiasm and laughter will be always what I remember about him. Mr. Ball, Words can't describe how much you'll be missed. You were a great man, a wonderful husband and an awesome father. Whether it was soccer games, trips to Boyne, golfing or just hanging around at the Ball residence...you were always there, watching all of us grow up in to the men we are today. David, We will always remember, with a smile, our walks at Balduck and down at the 9 mile Pier with Copper and Cody. Neither one of the dogs listening to us! Copper sneaking under the fence to Shore Club apartments, and you having to drive around to find her. At Balduck coming back to us with dead squirrels! Cody enjoying your Carmel Latte from Starbucks! Or the time we went for our first spring walk at the 9 mile pier and Copper getting a fish hook stuck in her mouth...that was one expensive walk! David, He was the greatest boss that I had a Comerica Bank, He was kind,understanding and caring. He shared that with all people that he touched. He would have customer come in talk to him about every detail in there life. I will miss working with you. Work will not be the same with out you. You made our branch a home away from home.

AN UNFILLABLE VOID It is not possible to put into words what David's friendship meant to me. We first crossed paths back in the days when David was a manager at Machus Restaurants after graduating from State. Back then, to me he was "much older" -- David's mid-twenties-something in contrast to my early-twenties-something. My memory of his management style back then was more like advice than instruction, and I believe that made it possible for us to become friends. Now some 35 years later, we were still friends, playing euchre regularly with a group that started a few years ago originally made up of only folks from those Machus days. Yes, the card game was an excuse to rehash the same, seemed-like-a-good-idea-at-the-time stories from the early days, but also to discuss grown-up topics like parenting, politics, faith, etc. We played euchre for what turned out to be the last time with him only 9 days before he passed. Our group can never be the same without him. Things about David that I was jealous of from the get-go: - being at State in the late-60's, early-70's - seeing the Beatles at Olympia - seeing David Bowie do Ziggy Stardust live David definitely influenced my tastes in music. In particular, he guided me to a renewed interest in Bob Dylan via his praise of Dylan's Blood on the Tracks album years after the album's release. There were so many facets to David's life. I was blessed to be part of those facets he shared with me. If anyone's picture should be in the dictionary under the "Steady Eddie" entry, it should be David's. He was always a good listener, and he always shared his experiences to my benefit. The world needs a lot more Davids. I'll miss his kind spirit deeply.

To My dear dear friend David, I am in complete shock, I cannot believe you are not here. I cannot comprehend you being gone from us. David you were a true friend for so many people for life. They say people don't change and although I haven't spoken with you in a few years, I hope its true. You had a huge impact on me and my life, always building me up, giving me confidence, telling me "I can" even when I wasn't sure myself. David Ball was my first real boss in my first real job at Machus 160 in Birmingham in 1972, I was 16. I was planning on working, making some quick cash to fill my gas tank and quitting relatively soon so I could spend even more time with my then girlfriend. David interviewed and hired me on the spot. I was the evening porter and clean up boy and was so ready to quit that job so many times intil David would calm me down, give me friendly direction and boost me into the belief that I could do anything I wanted, he believed in me and everyone who showed up, and I kept showing up. I stayed with my job because of David and went on to reach management within the same organization he greeted me at. We would have lunch from time to time through the late 70's and once again he would always be there for me, encourage me until I reached his own position as Store manager. I have owned 2 Cafe businesses since including my current one and I guarantee none of it would have happened without David. He was a spirit that comes along only once. David would always include me in his families Christmas Eve party where I got to know his family,always a special warm wonderful home his parents and then Jenny showed up and everything clicked. After some challenging existing from the restaurant part of his life the bank seemed a perfect fit, what a life he had now. Through the years David never forgot me or to include me in his annual Christmas card and letter that accompanied the family photo, what a gift you were, why did I not seek you out to remind you of your amazing person, why now do you have to go? I know if you were here you'd explain it and help me through it because thats who you are. I just wish so much that you were able to meet my wife Jacqui, you would have hit it off perfect, I miss you David. I a certain of one more thing David, someday I will see you again. I worked @ a Br. call center from 1985-2004 and met David over the phone and later in person @ a meeting. He was a sincere, honest and caring person and loved his family and church. I always looked forward to seeing him and catching up on life and work friends we had in common. I'm sure he will bve missed by all whose life's he touched. All his family and friends are in my prayers.
