David R. Benson

David Richard Benson, age 77 of Sterling Heights, passed away June 16, 2019. He was born in Detroit on August 13, 1941; the son of William Frederick and Elizabeth (nee St. Amand) Benson. David graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit before going on to work a long and dedicated career for the City of Sterling Heights. As a Class A Operator, David drove snowplows, street sweepers and other large machines in order to maintain the city. David was also a lifelong member of the Elks Club where he served as Exulted Ruler several times. In his free time, David enjoyed spending time with his retiree friends for monthly breakfast, playing solitaire on his computer and taking shopping trips to Sam's Club. Beloved husband of the late Carol for 40 years. Loving father of Anthony David (Dena Ann) Benson and Melissa Ann (Timothy) Roberts. Cherished grandmother of Tyler Roberts, Shelby Roberts and Jolie Benson. Also survived by many caring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation for David will take place on Saturday, June 22nd from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Sunday, June 23rd from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with an evening Rosary at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13-1/2 Mile) in Warren.. Instate Monday, June 24th from 10:30 AM until of Mass 11:00 AM at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 14115 E. 14 Mile in Sterling Heights. Fr. Joe Gembala will officiate.
