I am deeply sadden to learn of Doris passing. Ironically, she emailed me on August 18th regarding getting together for lunch. She told me of her health scare and said she would get back with me. I called her in October and was concerned that I did not hear back. We had exchanged Christmas greeting for over 40 years. The greeting card I sent came back and I new something had happened. I met Doris through her mother, Pauline back in the 1970s. We became friends. Doris was responsible for me getting hired at Marygrove College in the early 1980s. She was a fun loving and kind person. She was an excellent educator. She will be missed. My condolences to her family. Dorothea Cook Bryant

Our sympathy to Doris Ann's many friends and family. Doris was our neighbor for 18 years, and many good times were had! Doris traveled to Europe with me (and my granddaughter) in 2000, even though I told her she couldn't do all the walking! Of course, she proved me wrong! She always remembered how long she had lived here by asking how old our grandson, Thomas, was; he was a baby when she moved in. When she brought me a gingerbread kit for Christmas, I told her she had to come and make it with my grandchildren....and she did! Another great memory is when she fell asleep on her deck with her mail in her lap, and her paycheck fell between the cracks in the deck! Bob went over and removed the lattice work and crawled under the deck to retrieve her paycheck! I just want to say that when my neighbor and I found Doris Ann, she was on her side, looked very peaceful and had her hands folded as if in prayer. I will miss her.

I was an employee of Dr Henry G Bryan DDS. Each year Doris brought in a lovely poinsettia to brighten the office for Christmas. I will never forget her smiling face and that beautiful poinsettia. Seems like she always picked the largest and most unusual color. I did not know her well but her kindness made an impression on me and kicked off our holiday season.

Doris has been a lifelong friend. We met in the first grade at Christ the King School in Detroit, MI in 1940 and graduated in 1948 from this neighborhood school. After grade school we were separated in our educational pursuits since I went to Our Lady of Mercy High and Doris went to Immaculata. However, our families were life-long friends so Doris and I stayed in touch throughout the intervening years. Since we both taught in the Detroit Public Schools, our paths continued to cross, and then after we both retired, Doris and I continued our relationship through lunches at favorite eateries halfway between her residence in Clinton Township and mine in Highland, MI. All of Doris' friends knew how she loved to chat and stay in touch about everything that was going on in her closely knit circle of friends. As an example, the Friday before Doris went to her Eternal Home, she and I conversed for an hour and a half via the telephone to catch up on all the recent events in our lives. Doris was a beautiful person physically, spiritually, and intellectually. Even though she suffered physically throughout her life after the terrible car accident and her handicap, she continued with great faith to serve her God and her fellowman. Doris will be sorely missed by her many dear and cherished friends. Rest in peace, Doris. We will all get together again in the not too distant future.

Doris was my Father's sister. After his death our part of the family in Pennsylvania got to know her better, and I had visited her a number of times. I was always impressed by how active she was and how well she got along, despite the fact that she had almost lost her life in a car accident in the 70's and still suffered from the injuries. She didn't let that stop her. She was spirited and certainly not afraid to speak her mind. I wish that I had been able to visit her this summer and see her again, life always seems to get in the way sometimes. We will all miss her. David Meloche

I will miss you Aunt Doris, and I can only believe you are in a better place. I admired your tenacity and I know you never were afraid to speak your mind. I thank you for being interested in my life and the lives of the people I love. We will miss you for a long time.

Doris was always cheerful and eager to be in on the conversation when at the prayer group. She will be missed.

The loss of my cousin Doris leaves a void in my heart. She loved life and lived every day to the fullest, reaching out to others at every turn. I feel fortunate that we were able to reconnect these last 15 years, visiting back and forth frequently. My whole family mourns her loss.
