

Dorothy "Dot" May Boyd was born on August 18, 1916 to William and Eva Brothers. She was the eldest of five children; Rita Kuecken, Ray, Leonard, and Rose Suhy, her only surviving sibling. Dorothy married William "Buster" DeWitt Boyd on August 26, 1933. Their marriage lasted 52 years until William's death on December 1, 1985. Dorothy and Buster had five children: Anne, Bill, Jerry, Barb, and Mike. She had 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She considered her family as her greatest legacy. She was especially fond of complementing and encouraging her offspring. Dorothy held jobs outside the home throughout her marriage. In her younger years she was active in the PTA and served on election boards. She assisted her husband, a trustee of the Van Dyke Public Schools. After Williams death she volunteered at St. John's Macomb Hospital. She served on the volunteer auxiliary as a board member. Before her health forced her to stop at 91 years old, she had accumulated 12, 500 hours of service in 21 years. Her children saw her volunteer service as a symbol of her character. She was generous and compassionate toward others in need. She had a warm personality and a knack at making others feel comfortable and important. Visitaion will be Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a funeral service at 7:30 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd. at Masonic, Warren. Interment will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 30, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Seasons Hospice would be appreciated.
