Whipple, Dr. Ruth. Age 101. August 5, 2017. Former principal at Chandler Elementary School in Detroit. Dr. Ruth was instrumental at starting reading programs for Detroit schools afterschool programs. She was a former professor at Wayne State. She was an artist and always took classes to improve her skills at watercolor, charcoal, and sketching. She enjoyed crafting pottery at the Pewabic Center. She is survived by many loving extended family members. Visitation Monday 2-9 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Prayers at 7 pm.
