Dr. William Robert Urbancic

Dr. William R. Urbancic died June 28, 2009 at the age of 79. Born in Detroit, MI on July 25, 1929 to Mary and Frank Urbancic. Graduated from Wayne State University Medical School in 1957. Served his Country honorably as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Devoted family physician loved and revered by generations of patients. Ran his private practice in Eastpointe, MI. Member of the Staff at St. John Hospital for nearly 40 years, served on the Executive Board as Treasurer. Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice, Member of American Medical Association and Michigan Academy of Family Physicians. Devoted father who was actively involved in his children's lives, from coaching little league to building the annual back yard ice rink. Enjoyed tennis, sailing, skiing, nature, reading Louis L'Amour novels and doing crossword puzzles. He never lost his sense of humor, which was appreciated by all ages. Loving husband of Joan. Cherished father of Frank, Joan Marie (Andor) Reiber, Brian, Rick, and the late William Jr. (Barbara). Grandfather of Michael, Marylise, and Will. Brother of Frank (Helen). Visitation Wednesday 2-5 pm and 6-9 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave at Vernier Rd, Grosse Pointe Woods. Scripture service 7:00 pm. Instate Thursday 9:30 am until Mass 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 157 Lake Shore, Grosse Pointe Farms.
