

Eleanor Ball passed away on August 31, 2012 at Church of Christ Care Center in Clinton Twp. at the age of 97. She was born on October 24, 1914 in Saginaw, Michigan; daughter of Leon and Alice (nee Secor) Cotton. Eleanor married the love of her life Kenneth Ball on May 11, 1940 in Ferndale, Michigan. They enjoyed thirty-eight wonderful years together until his death on May 30, 1978. To say that Mrs. Ball loved to play Bridge would be an understatement. She belonged to numerous card clubs and would play as many as three times a week well into her 90's. She played all throughout the Grosse Pointes including clubs at St. Joan of Arc, the Grosse Pointe War Memorial and with the Grosse Pointe Seniors. Eleanor was blessed with a healthy body and sharp mind until June of this year. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She leaves behind her loving daughter Donna (Allen) Sill, and her sister Jeannette Fidler (the late John). She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Cotton and her sister Elizabeth Gurman, and her husband Kenneth. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Mrs. Ball's funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Reverend Dave Schwartz will officiate. Eleanor will be buried next to her beloved Kenneth at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak.
