Erna Adrian

Erna Adrian passed away on November 7, 2017 at St. John Hospital in Detroit at the age of 87 from a debilitating stroke. She was born on November 30, 1929 in Detroit, the daughter of Friedrich and Pauline (nee Sandner) Schwarz. Erna is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Douglas) Carmer; grandchildren Forrest and Adrian Carmer, and Victoria and Cheyenne Adrian. She was predeceased by her son, Eric Adrian. Erna started her career as a flight attendant for United Airlines. She enjoyed bases in New York (Broadway plays), Denver, and Los Angeles (celebrity passengers). Later, she had a successful career as a legal secretary/executive assistant at Fruehauf Trailer Corporation. After retiring, Erna returned to traveling. Although she went on many cruises, the most notable adventure was a trip thru the Panama Canal. She also enjoyed many weekend and summer trips to Higgins Lake with her dear friend and companion, Jack Schmid, who unfortunately predeceased her. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 20338 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods on Monday, November 27. Gathering with family at noon. Service begins at 12:30pm. Pastor Randy Boelter will officiate. A few of her favorite charities were the Alzheimers Association, Wounded Warriors, and DAV. Any contributions made to these charities in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
