Evelyn Veronica Rogo, age 84, a resident of Harrison Township, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Evelyn was born Wednesday, May 15, 1935 in Detroit to Anthony and Veronica Bolon. Evelyn worked for Detroit Edison for over 40 years as an Executive Secretary before she retired in 2001. She was married to the late Casimir Rogo for nearly 30 years. She was a proud mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. Ev was an avid skier, loved boating, traveling, going for bike rides, kayaking, being outside, and going to her second house in Charlevoix. During her time at Detroit Edison, Evelyn was the President of the Girls' Club, and involved in both the company ski club and Toastmaster's society. She modeled for various events at Detroit Edison and for a local ski store. In her later years, she took up piano lessons and always loved listening to Veronica play. She volunteered for many organizations, including the Mt. Clemens Art Center, the Harrison Township Public Library, and was an Election Chairperson. She was very involved at St. Hubert Church, working with the St. Vincent DePaul Society, caring for church linens, working countless hours at the church festival, as well as being a lector, a eucharistic minister, and one of the Monday morning "countesses." She was adventurous, always looking to try new things and learn new technologies, such as vitrual reality games and reading books and playing games on her iPad. She enjoyed the theater and music. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends at the holidays; there were never enough Christmas lights on her house or tree. She was always looking for cultural things to do, was always reading, and truly loved the Detroit Red Wings. She was witty, intelligent and outspoken, and commented often on various issues by writing in to local newspapers. She loved having white flowers blooming all summer in her yard and was constantly keeping her house in good repair, updating the decor and furniture. She loved dogs and was a meticulous housekeeper. She worked hard at everything and was an extremely independent, strong lady. She adored her grandaughter and always looked forward to her and her friends coming to visit. Watching Veronica skate was her pride and joy. She will be missed; we hope she is skiing in the clouds, reunited with friends and family who predeceased her.
