

84 years old. Francis was born on September 4, 1940, to Frank and Ann Sosnowski. Francis passed
away on March 8, 2025.
Francis’s passion for education led him to earn Bachelor's and Master’s degrees from the University of
Detroit as well as a Master’s degree from Marygrove College. He devoted more than 40 years of his life to
teaching, beginning at Our Lady Queen of Peace where he inspired young minds for over two decades.
He then continued his career in the Chippewa Valley Schools where he taught until his retirement.
Francis’s dedication to his students left a lasting impact on generations of students.
Beyond the classroom, Francis was a man of many passions. He was a devoted husband to his wife
Rose Marie and a proud father to his two sons Matthew and Mark. Francis's family was his greatest
source of joy. He was a man of the arts, actively participating in the St. Clair Shores Community Chorus
and the Crocker House of Mt. Clemens. He was a longtime volunteer at the Detroit Institute of Arts. His
love for music, history, and culture was evident in all that he did.
Francis was deeply rooted in his faith and was an active member of St. Basil and St. Peter parishes. His
kindness, wisdom, and dedication to his family, students, and faith will be fondly remembered by family,
friends, former students, and all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 55 years, Rose Marie. He is survived by
his sons, Matthew Sosnowski and Mark (Mandy) Sosnowski as well as his brother, Thomas (Terry)
Sosnowski. Francis is also survived by two granddaughters Emily and Isabelle.
Rest in peace, Francis. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved you.
A visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, March 21st at A.H. Peters Funeral Home in Grosse
Pointe Woods. A scripture service will be held at 7 p.m.
The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 22nd, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Prior to the
mass, final goodbyes will begin at 9:30 a.m. The mass will start at 10:00 a.m. The church is located at
21620 Greater Mack Ave. in St. Clair Shores.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen or the St. Clair Shores Community
Chorus.
