Frank McHugh

Frank J. McHugh, age 84, a resident of Grosse Pointe Woods, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at his home in the loving care of his wife Ann and his family. Loving father to Rod (Ann) McHugh, Cindy (Jerry) Heymes, Lisa McHugh, Jill (Mike) Mott, and Holly (Nick) Krizmanich. Cherished grandfather to Steven Heymes, Andrea Heymes, Jim Heymes, Maura Mott, Michael Mott, Maeve Mott, Margaret Mott, Collin Krizmanich, Taylor (Abigail) Krizmanich, and Connie Krizmanich. Adored great-grandfather to Nora and Jonah Krizmanich.

Frank was born in Detroit on April 17, 1935 to Frank and Mary. He grew up in the Detroit area, attending Catholic schools, St. Peter and Paul, St. Ambrose, University of Detroit, Wayne State University and Center for Creative Studies. Frank's love to teach, and people skills showed in his level of patience, immense care, and optimism. This allowed him to teach those with special needs and have them thrive to be their best at their skills. He also worked as a real estate agent throughout the years in Grosse Pointe and in St. Clair, Michigan. While supporting his loving wife Ann and children to the fullest, he dedicated his time to many organizations such as St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church as an usher for over 40 years, the Optimist Club, The Garden Club of Grosse Pointe and The Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He gave his time to the Montessori School in St. Clair, Michigan.

Frank adored his family, especially his grandchildren, and was an inspiration to all of the lives that he touched. His easy ways made friends feel close. He will truly be missed.

Family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.

Frank will lie in state on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lake Shore Road, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236.

Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township, MI

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Children's Music Program at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, The Right of Life of Michigan, or St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church.
