George Richard Anderson passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born in Detroit, MI on June 13, 1931; son of Hjomer and Lillian Anderson and had a twin sister Audrey June. He grew up in Warren and met his beloved Leatrice Lyle Hogeboom who was from Fraser. They and were married on July 24, 1951 at Zion Grace Church in Fraser.
George better was known by his family and close friends as “Andy”, served in the US Airforce living in New York during the Korean War, became a Detroit Police then later a Warren Police Officer. He worked the Ford Motor Co as a Plant Engineer and then moved into industrial sales. He was known for a firm handshake and being able to make friends with any stranger in minutes. He was very handy and loved to build things. He became a skilled wood craftsman and carpenter making many handcrafted memory chests for family and friends. He loved to serve his family, close-knit group of friends and strangers. He loved hosting frequent gatherings for family and friends. He was dedicated to church and country. His love for serving with others was really facilitated, as he became more active in supporting his son Bruce’s floral business, Moehring Woods Flowers in Grosse Pointe. His wife Lyle contributed as a talented floral designer and Andy worked logistics on a part time basis. He really enjoyed delivering flower arrangements. It wasn’t long before he had served and knew thousands on the east side of Detroit. This continued for 40 years and at the age of 90 he never wanted it to end.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Leatrice in 2015. Loving father of Rick (Tatiana), Bruce (Pamela), and Keith (Janet). Cherished grandfather of Grant, Brooke, Corey, and Kyle. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of both late Audrey (Chuck) and Howard (Carol). He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be Sunday September 26, 2021, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. George will lie in state on Monday from 12:00 pm until the time of his funeral service at 1:00 pm at Hope United Church of Christ, 35127 Garfield Rd, Clinton Twp, MI 48030. Memorial contributions to Hope United Church of Christ are welcomed.

George will be buried next to his beloved Leatrice at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Twp following the Church service.
