
George Peter Nicolopoulos was born March 17, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Dearborn and was a very active member in the metro-Detroit community. George entered into rest July 1, 2017 in Rochester, Michigan. George worked a variety of jobs including a brief time as a U.S. Marshall, but he found his passion as a projectionist for motion pictures. He loved professionally produced movies and photographs. George was a trail blazer in the movie industry and served as the union president. He was even able to negotiate a pension plan that still benefits many today in the production industry. A very intelligent man, George achieved a bachelors degree and was very knowledgeable about many different things. From finance to sports, George had an opinion and loved to share it. Traveling was another passion of Georges; he loved exploring the United States and the world. While George never married he was very close to his nieces and loved to spend time with them. Proud of his Greek heritage, George taught himself to speak fluent Greek and was very interested in the history of his ancestors. George is the beloved uncle of Toula (Peter) Phillips, Christina Patru and the late Georgia (Melvyn) Ellis. He is also a treasured great-uncle to many great-nieces and nephews. George's family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 5th from 3:00pm until 8:00pm with a Trisagon Service at 7:00pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13-1/2 Mile), Warren. Instate Thursday, July 6th from 9:00am until time of Service 10:00am at St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 11455 Metropolitan Pkwy, Sterling Heights. A committal service will immediately follow at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township.
