Monique and I were deeply saddened by the news of Uncle Howards passing. We also deeply regret not being able to attend his funeral, as we are both deployed overseas. Uncle Howard never failed to bring joy into the lives of others and never failed to bring us near tears with laughter each time we came home to visit. He was the life of the party at our wedding, and I am sure he is the life of the party in Heaven. Our fond memories of Uncle Howard will never diminish and we will forever hold him in our hearts. Our compassion and love go out to Auntie Jean and to all of our cousins who have lost such a wonderful father and grandfather.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time of saying your earthly good byes to such a wonderful man. I know your comfort lies in the fact that he is now in heaven with his Savior.

Dear Jean, I cannot believe that Howard has already left us. It seemed it was just yesterday when he drove us to Costco to shop. It seemed it was just yesterday when he told Darcy that he enjoyed Darcy playing piano when Darcy was practising in your house. It seemed it was just yesterday when Howard was chatting with us and patiently explaining things to me.... Even though we have been next door neighbours for just several months, I truly enjoyed friendship of Howard. His friendly smiles and welcoming words were so heart-warming. How I wish that time could go back and Howard was still with us... Me and my whole family will miss Howard dearly... Love Mao, Ping and Darcy

Aunt Jean (and the rest of the Kohler family). I'm hoping the poem (below) helps you get through this difficult time. When Jane died, the only thing that gave us comfort was knowing that one day "we will all be together again" in Heaven. The "Broken Chain" poem (below) says it all... Hope this brings comfort to all of you. Again, my heart goes out to you. Love you all. Pam " The Broken Chain " We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly In death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.

Uncle Howard touched the lives of everyone he came across. He was always the shining light in the room; the ray of sunshine on a dark day. Our hearts and prayers go out to the entire Kohler family. Uncle Howard was always so full of life that it's really hard to believe he's gone. He was definitely one of a kind. God broke the mold when they made him. He was one of the most fun loving and caring people I have ever met. He was always "the life of the party" and had this wonderful "gift of speaking" that no one could even come close to matching. I have many fond memories of Uncle Howard as far back as I can remember, I will cherish those memories for the rest of my life. He truly touched my life in so many ways, I'm just glad that our paths crossed and God made him a part of "our" family, we are all richer for having known him. He was the "shining star" in our family and we were his cheering section, he made us all so proud. He is the perfect example of what God wants us all to be. Aunt Jean and family I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Howard will be missed by so many people. However, the happy memories that he has left with so many will keep him alive in our hearts and minds. There is no doubt in my mind he is up with Grandma and Grandpa sharing stories and making them laugh. Heaven has just gotten one of its brightest stars to light up the night. To the Kohler family: The entire Thurlow family mourns the passing of Howard, and we know it is a tremendous loss for your whole family. Howard was a man that we all looked up to from afar, and he always treated every one of us like family. From a a personal standpoint, I will always recall fondly seeing Howard and Jean this summer at the lake house, and remember their efforts to "cross the lake" to see my sons and I- that effort alone touched me tremendously. But it was not a surprise to em that they did make that effort, as it was just one more example of the .loving person that Howard was, and Jean remains. jean, we are particularly sorry for your loss, as we know that Howard was truly the love of your life, and we mourn his loss with you.  In closing, we are all greiving with you over the loss of Harold, but hopefully you find comfort and peace in knowing that Howard lived a complete life with his wonderful family, and that he is no longer suffering.
