Irene Ellis

Irene Ellis, age 95, died peacefully on November 2, 2009 at the Church of Christ Care Center in Clinton Township. Irene was born on May 13, 1914 in Detroit, the daughter of George and Mary LePage. Mrs. Ellis is survived by her children, Paul (Suzanne), James (Geraldine), Thomas (Adriana), Patricia Kelley (David), Mary Kennedy and Jean Shovlin (Gary); 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and her sister, Theresa Meehan. She was pre-deceased by her husband Edward in 2008. Irene and Edward were married at Annunciation Catholic Church in Detroit in 1938. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage. Irene was a former member of the Austin Mother's Club. For the last nine and a half years she was a resident of Church of Christ Care Center Visitation will be on Friday from 2-9 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. A scripture service will take place at 7 pm. She will lie instate at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores from 9:30 am Saturday until time of mass at 10:00 am. Monsignor G. Michael Bugarin will officiate. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. Memorial contributions made to either In-House Hospice, 24293 Telegraph Road, Suite 102, Southfield, MI 48033 or St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 22412 Overlake, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080 would be appreciated.
