

Irene Ruth Morath (nee Premo) was born to Edward and Irene on April 26, 1922. She was a graduate of St. Benedict High School in Highland Park, MI. She met Carl Morath while working at the Albert Kahn architectural firm. They were married on June 4, 1945. She began work on her greatest vocation as mother with the birth of their first child the following year. Her home was always a welcoming and nurturing environment for not only her children, but all their friends. On the occasion of her fiftieth wedding anniversary, she received an award from Madonna University acknowledging her many accomplishments as an outstanding and devoted wife and mother. She was a person with gentle trust in the Lord, and left her children each with the gift of love and faith. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish in St. Clair Shores for 55 years. Mrs. Morath is survived by her children; Paul (Pamela), James (Betsy), Margaret, Donald (Sarah), Thomas (Terri), Frederick (Katherine), Lawrence (Trisha), Irene McGinn (David), Louise Gordon (Brian) and Carl C. (Kristin); 27 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and her brothers James and Joseph. Visitation 2-9 pm Sunday and Monday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd, Grosse Pointe Woods. Rosary 7:00 pm Monday. Instate at St. Joan of Arc Church 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores (48080) from 9:30 am Tuesday until mass at 10:00 am.
