James Joseph Murtha

James (Jim) J. Murtha died peacefully on October 10th, 2025 at the age of 80. He resided in St. Clair Shores. The son of James and Margaret Murtha, he is survived by his sister, Ann Murphy, brother, Pat (Kitty). Preceeding him in death were his brother Neil, brother-in-law Lynn Murphy and nephew Tim Murphy. Jim enjoyed time spent with his many nephews and nieces.

Jim took great pride having graduated from St.Ambrose High School, where he played on several city championship football teams. Shortly after graduation, Jim became a member of the Holy Ghost Brothers and served as a religious brother for several years in the USA and abroad. He transitioned into the civilian sector working in the packaging and production industry. Jim had a passion for exercise and weight training, keeping fit for much of his adult life. He was a sports enthusiast watching many sporting events on TV with family; he especially enjoyed attending University of Michigan home football games, sitting down with a good book, and dog sitting for family members. A visitation will be held on November 5, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am at St Joan of Arc Parish Center, located at 22412 Overlake St, St. Clair Shores, MI, 48080, US.

The funeral service will follow on the same day, November 5, 2025, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at the same location.
