Beloved wife of Larry. Dear mother of Lori Karol, MD (Robert), Sandra Heythaler (Joe), and Randal Weber (Christy). Loving grandmother of Molly, Leah, Abigail, Jourdan, and Nicole. Sister of Eleanor Wagner and the late Wanda, Matthew, Virginia, Emily, Laura, and Walter. Visitation Sunday 2-9 pm with rosary 7 pm at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. In state Monday 11:30 am until time of Mass 12 noon at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchins. Our dear wife and mother, Joan Weber, peacefully joined her Lord on May 30th after a valiant and difficult ten month battle with acute leukemia. Joan was born in Cass City, Michigan on March 20, 1938 to Felicia and Walter Myslakowski. She graduated from St. Rita High School in 1957, and began work at Bulldog Electric as an administrative assistant. She married Larry Weber on September 5, 1959, happily sharing their lives together for 57 years. They moved to St. Clair Shores in 1966, raising their three children, Lori, Sandi and Randy there. Joan was an adventurer. Her favorite vacation spots were Hawaii and Myrtle Beach. She loved boogie boarding in the ocean, and could outlast her granddaughters in the ocean. One of her most memorable trips was to Italy, where she ate pasta with tomato sauce every night and felt the solution to lack of Italian language skills was to shout in English. She was very excited to have attended Mass at the Vatican. Joan was an active parishioner at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where in her younger years, she was a girl scout leader, supervised the lunchtime playground, and cheerleader chaperone. She never missed a spring festival, and worked at the fair nearly every year until her health failed this year. Joan was loved by many for her cheerful and friendly personality. She loved animals, treating her many pets like children. Over the years, she tried to adopt a baby squirrel (until family members objected!), and was once chased by a turtle in Florida she was assisting off a road. She supported the Humane Society and the SPCA. She was a fitness buff, working out with a close group of friends at the local health club. Her grandchildren were forever amused by her stories of kickboxing in her 70's, her championship in the club's plank contest, and her love of step aerobics. Dancing was her passion, and she dearly loved her weekly line dancing outings with her girlfriends. She was a fixture on the dance floor at all family weddings, leading the Cupid Shuffle and Hustle up until this spring at Sandi's wedding. Her array of shoewear for dancing ranged from bowling shoes (they slide on the floor best!), Texas drill team boots (after her granddaughters danced for their high school), and more varieties of cowboy boots than the average Texan would ever have! We are certain that she is teaching the Apostles how to Tush Push right now. Joan was a woman of faith. She kept every prayer card sent to her, and prayed on behalf of all her deceased family members and ailing friends every morning. Each night, she slept holding the rosary. She never missed Mass, and found comfort in her closeness to Jesus and the Blessed Mother. Joan Weber was a little woman with a huge heart and tremendous spirit. We will all miss her dearly, but know that she is at peace and looking over us.
