

John Kenneth "Jack" Domenick, age 83, passed peacefully on April 25, 2018 at the William Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe, MI. Jack was born on September 6, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA; the son of Alfonso and Margaret Domenick. He attended school in Lucerne Mines, PA and worked for his fathers trucking company before moving to Detroit with his family in 1970. Jack was a truck driver for Central Cartage in Detroit until his retirement in 1999. He drove city routes and was home with his family every evening. He had always been a very social person and a genuinely kind man who always had a good word to share about others. As the Patriarch of the Domenick family, his family was of primary importance in his life and he truly enjoyed getting everyone together whenever possible. Jack played in an adult hockey league, starting in his 30's and he played into his 50's. He and Kelly enjoyed vacationing and was fond of Fort Lauderdale, FL. His children meant the world to him, and family time is where his most cherished memories developed. Both of his sons were in the military and many trips were planned around their career achievements. Barry, while at the US Military Academy in West Point, New York, and Bryan in the Air Force, starting at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was also extremely proud of his daughter, Peggy Lee, as she attended Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. Jack and Kelly suffered tremendous pains with the loss of both Barry and Peggy as young adults and was able to endure and enjoy life through his deep love and pride of Bryan's flying career and watching his grandchildren grow to become young adults, along with all of the activities they were involved in. Jack was a member of Birmingham Lodge #44 F. & A. M. and Teamsters Local #299. Back home in Pennsylvania, he was a member of the Nowrytown Sportsman Club, the Red Barn Sports Club, as well as the Homer City Historical Society. Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vivien "Kelly" and their son Bryan and his wife Cara. He was, and always will be, "Poppa" to his three grandchildren; Taylor, Troy and Caleigh. He is survived by brother Richard (Aileen), Sandra Hollabough (the late Glenn), Paulette Longmire (Gary) and Theresa Parise (Donnie). Jack was predeceased by his son Barry, daughter Peggy, sister Donna Naponic and brothers Fred, David and Bobbie. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am Sunday until the funeral begins at 3:00 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. Interment will be 12 noon Monday at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Clinton Township.
