John Roberts Kitchen

John "Jack" Kitchen passed away May 25, 2017 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of his wife Bonnie for more than 27 years, and loving father of his sons John (Eva) Kitchen Jr. and James (Sheila) Kitchen. He is also survived by his grandsons Robert and Philip, his sister Mary Ann (Brian) Sherwood, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Richard (June) Kitchen and Everett Kitchen. John was a lifelong Michigander who loved the water and the nearness of the Great Lakes. He served in the Coast Guard as a young man, and spoke fondly of his posting in Aleutian Islands of Alaska. John graduated from Wayne State with a degree in business administration. He worked as the office manager at Cadillac Plating Corporation in Warren for more than 40 years, eventually retiring as an owner. He greatly enjoyed his retirement relaxing with his wife at their home on Lake St. Clair, socializing with friends and relatives, spoiling his dachshunds, and pursuing his many interests. John especially enjoyed spending time with his old friends and making new ones while fishing, golfing, and bowling. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be Thursday June 1 from 2 pm to 8 pm, and the funeral service will be Friday June 2 at 12 pm, both at AH Peters funeral home, 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.
