John Thomas Murphy

John Thomas Murphy, age 84, passed away October 4, 2014 at St John-Oakland Hospital, Madison Heights, Michigan. He was born September 4, 1930 in Detroit, to the late John and Margaret (Nee O'Leary) Murphy. John started his working career after serving in the Korean War at MESC, the Michigan Employment Security Commission. In 1968 he became an elementary school teacher at Wilde Elementary and Haitema until his retirement in 1994. John enjoyed reading, bowling and his family was the love of his life. Beloved husband of Barbara. Dearest father of John, Sharon (Donald) Baldwin, Daniel (Cathy), Edward, Kathleen, Deborah (Patrick) McAleer, Joseph (Stephanie), Timothy (Robin) and Patrick (Mary). Loving and proud grandfather of Nicole, Clinton, Brenna, Conner, Keiran, Eleanor, Tadhg, Aine, Seamus, Kathryn, Helena Murphy; Bryan, Shannon, Jack and Kevin McAleer; and Nathan Baldwin. Dear brother of Thomas (Jan) Murphy, Theresa Brennan and the late Michael, Mamie and Mary Murphy. Visitation Tuesday 2:00pm-9:00pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr (at Masonic), Warren. Instate Wednesday 9:00am until time of mass 9:30am at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover, Warren. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
