

After graduating college, Joseph started out as an occupational therapist at the Rehabilitation Institute in the Detroit Medical Center, and retired as the Director of Orthotics. He was a man of charity, who gave his time to alleviate those who were suffering.
He is survived by two nephews, Andrew N. Vanchick (Nancy) of Gladwin, MI, and Edward Chuba (Kathleen) of Sharpsville, PA; his four nieces, Janet Kretchek (Charles), Maryann Lavin, JoAnn Vancik and Helene Wanchick. Numerous great nieces and nephews, extended family and close friends also survive Mr. Wanchik.
There will be two sets of calling hours for Mr. Wanchik starting at 2:00 p.m. and concluding at 8:00 p.m. on both Thursday July 28, and Friday, July 29, 2022 that will be held at A.H. Peters Funeral Home of Grosse Pointe (20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236). Mass will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church (23300 King Drive, Clinton Township, MI 48035), with instate to begin after 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or The Detroit Concert Choir.
