

Judith Smith passed away peacefully with her family by her side at St John Hospital in Detroit on July 29, 2011. She was born in Detroit on April 30th, 1940; daughter of Emerson and Margaret (nee McNamara) Knack. Judith married Raymond Smith on August 29th, 1959 at St. Clare of Montefalco Church in Grosse Pointe Farms. They enjoyed 52 loving years together. They began their family on Harvard Street on the east side of Detroit for twelve years and have lived in Grosse Pointe Park for forty years. Mrs. Smith enjoyed being a homemaker. She was very active physically. She taught aerobics, loved music and dancing. Judith was a caring woman who volunteered at Bon Secours Hospital in the gift shop. She enjoyed spending time with the girls in her "social" card club. Judith was an accomplished shopper. Her biggest love in her life was her family. She was a wonderful mom and a loving nana. She leaves behind her loving husband Raymond. She is survived by her loving children Raymond (Eileen), Bonnie (Don) Ireson, Susan (John) Cook, Robert, and Meghan (Derek) Beers. She adored her grandchildren Raymond, Olivia, Matthew, Paul, Brady, Cameron, and Blake. She is survived by her sister Patricia Coughlan and predeceased by her sister Sandra Appel. She will be missed by her Yorkie Lilly. A Memorial visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church 157 Lakeshore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms. Father John Wynnycky will officiate.
