Kay M. Kimmel

Kay Marie Kimmel was born October 2, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Hazel Kimmel. She was an active member at the St. Hubert Catholic Church. Kay entered into rest September 1, 2018 at the age of 84. She worked as a utilization specialist, an administrator and as a nurse in several hospitals around the metro-Detroit area for over 30 years. She often bridged the gap between patients, doctors, and insurance companies. Kay was a calm level headed woman that kept her cool in any situation she found herself in. Her calm nature made her not only a fantastic nurse but a fantastic mother to her children, and friend to all who knew her. Kay was an avid sports fan. She could often be found golfing or dancing and loved to watch the Detroit Tigers Baseball Team. In addition to sports Kay enjoyed listening to music and reading. She loved reading so much that she would often volunteer at the Harrison Township Library and as a reading tutor. She also volunteered to help run the polls for many elections both for her city and for the county. Traveling was another one of Kays great loves; she could never turn down an adventure. Throughout her life she traveled as part of the Nomads, for work and to visit family; Russia, India, Ireland, Italy and Mexico were just a few of the places she has seen. Kay is predeceased by her parents, her dear daughter Paula Marie Listman-Tocco and Sister Julianna. She leaves behind her remaining children George Michael Listman (Norma Erendira Sanchez Velazquez), Stephen Patrick Listman (Lisa), and Carla Ann Listman; Treasured grandchildren Norma, Erick, Patrick, Sara, Justin, Zachary and great-grandchildren Mauro, Taylor, Hunter, Colton, and Layla. She will also be missed by her sister Fran and dear friends and care takers LaShanda Stewart and Dave Lowen. Visitation for Kay will be Sunday September 2, 2018 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd. Warren (at Masonic). Memorials may be made to the Capuchins Soup Kitchen or the Capuchin Monastery Please share a memory of Kay on our guest book.
