Kevin Aaron Huntsman

Kevin died peacefully at home after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the devoted husband of 38 years to Colleen (Christie) Huntsman, loving father to Craig and Karen, and older brother to Mark and Warren. He was predeceased by his parents Jess and Grace Huntsman and step-daughter Christie Ann Range.

Kevin graduated Summa Cum Laude from Oakland University in 1973 with a degree in math. He followed that up with some post-graduate studies at Michigan State University. The next 4 years were adventurous ones. Kevin lived in France for 6 months, and upon returning home bought himself a sail boat. He taught himself how to sail and set a course for Rhode Island via the old Erie Canal. He accepted a job there while living with a college friend on a derelict power boat. He returned home to teach junior highs school math briefly.

Kevin finally found his life’s calling in 1978 when he became employed at Merrill Lynch. He was a financial advisor and portfolio manager. He built a very successful business over the next 43 years earning much in the way of accolades and recognition. In 2018 and 2019, Kevin was named to the Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Advisor list. He derived great satisfaction in taking care of his clients financial needs, and they in turn were deeply appreciative of his advice. Kevin touched many people’s lives, helping generations of families.

Kevin was an avid reader of many topics all his life. His hallmark trait was his retention of facts and his intellect. He enjoyed playing the piano for his own pleasure. He did genealogical research of his family dating his American roots back to the early 1600’s. Kevin also enjoyed playing tennis and organizing leagues through Wimbledon Racquet Club. Anything Kevin put his mind to he excelled at.

Although Kevin and Colleen travelled to many places in the U.S., Kevin’s favorite vacation destination was New York City.

Visitation will be held at A.H. Peters funeral home, 20705 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236 from 1 pm until time of service at 5 pm
