Marie E. Marco

Marie E. Marco, age 76, died peacefully in her husbands arms on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Marie was born on July 19, 1941 in Hamtramck, Michigan; the daughter of Martin and Elizabeth Halaburda. She was a 1959 graduate of St. Florian High School in Hamtramck and attended nursing college at Wayne University. In 1962 Marie Halaburda married Ralph F. Marco at St. Florian Catholic Church. She worked for many years in Ralphs family business, Taylor Optical Supplies, in downtown Detroit. Marie was a lover of the arts. She was a patron of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for decades, a member and former docent at the Detroit Institute of Arts, a member of the Grosse Pointe Shores Garden Club and Lochmoor Club. Marie also assisted with Project HOPE and at the channel 56 auctions that benefitted PBS. She enjoyed attending performances at the Fisher Theater and Grosse Pointe Theater, as well as the annual Stratford Festival. Marie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ralph F.; their three daughters: Lisa Marco Pritchard (Greg), Kristen Marco-McNeal (Peter) and Molly Marco; three grandchildren: Alexa Pritchard, Cameron McNeal and Caitlyn McNeal; and siblings, Gary Halaburda, Betty Wolocko and Michael Halaburda. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM Friday, March 9, 2018 until a memorial service begins at 12 Noon, at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. In lieu of flowers, donations to the The Capuchin Monastery, c/o The Province of St. Joseph of the Capuchin Order, Attn: Development Office, 1820 Mt.
