Marie Theresa Schwanitz, age 91, of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Marie was born in Detroit on April 2, 1933 to the late Leonardo and Giovanna (nee Rizzo) Lobaito.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her siblings, Govana (Alphonse) Moceri, Francesca (Marvin) Singer, Nunzia Lobaito, Tommaso (Hyacinth) Lobaito, Francesco (Gertrude) Lobaito, Antonio (Lupe) Lobaito, and sister-in-law, Betty.
Marie is survived by her loving son, Charles (Joy) Lobaito, and her beloved granddaughter, Annabella Lobaito. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Marie was a devout Catholic and was a long-time member, and volunteer, at Our Lady Star of the Sea. She was Life Master in Bridge and enjoyed traveling all over the country to play in tournaments. She also loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews, and visiting with her grandkittens.
A visitation for Marie will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A rosary and memory sharing will occur Monday, February 17, 2025 at 7:00 PM, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. An instate visitation will occur Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 467 Fairford, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 467 Fairford, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
