

Marilyn Ann Reilly July 23, 1928 - June 4, 2019 On June 4, 2019 Marilyn Ann Reilly, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home with family at her bedside while in hospice/palliative care at age 90 after a long illness with Parkinsons disease and dementia. Marilyn was born on July 23, 1928 in Detroit, MI, the oldest of five children of James Bernard Kane and Albertha Miller Kane. Marilyn graduated from St. Rose Catholic High School on Detroits eastside, where she excelled in typewriting and stenography. Years later, she secured a position at Recorders Court, the criminal court of Detroit, in the psychiatric clinic, where she first worked as secretary to the chief forensic psychiatrist and later as court clerk to several judges for over 20 years. Marilyn was a loving and devoted mother to her three daughters, Tarey, Susan (Rogers), and Maureen and two sons, Kevin and Tim. To all who knew her, Marilyn was a stylish, hard-working and engaging woman. For over 15 years, she enjoyed the many activities offered to members of the neighborhood club/ Services for Older Citizens (SOC) in Grosse Pointe. Marilyns favorites included Tai Chi, aerobic exercise classes, progressive rummy, bingo, and various crafts. Concurrently, she served as a volunteer for SOCs lunch program which served meals to physically-challenged club members. Marilyn was an avid international and domestic traveler and journeyed with her daughter via train to many cities throughout western Europe. She also lived in San Francisco (CA) for 3 years and made many trips to visit her children and grandchildren in Washington, DC, Virginia, Vermont, NYC, Kentucky, Florida, and Arizona. Over her final four years, Marilyn made many wonderful new friends as a resident at the American House(c) East 1 in Roseville, MI. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents and her brothers Jimmy and Patrick. She is survived by her children, her sisters, Janeen and Kathleen, and her six grandchildren: Kieran, Ann, Laura, Jack, Luke (Reilly), and Blake (Rogers) as well as many nieces and nephews. A one-day visitation followed by testimonial, music and a rosary will be held on Friday, June 7 at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd. in Grosse Pointe Woods from 2pm to -7pm. A mass and funeral service will take place the following day, Saturday. June 8 at 10am at St. Joan of Arc church at 22412 Overlake Street at Mack Ave. in St. Clair Shores. Marilyn will be interred at Resurrection cemetery in Clinton Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marilyns name to her favorite non-profit organizations, Operation Smile(c) and The Helm(c) ,Services for Older Citizens in Grosse Pointe.
