

Mary Jean (Hickey) Dailey, of St. Clair Shores, West Branch, Clinton Township, and Detroit, MI, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2019. She was 76 years old. Mary Jean was born on December 19, 1942 to William and Marie Hickey of Detroit and was the youngest of four beloved children. Mary Jean is the loving mother and friend of Kathy Falk (Jon Ayala); beloved sister of Dick Hickey (the late Ruth), Sr. Colleen Hickey SSJ, and the late Dennis Hickey (Peggy). Aunt to many nieces and nephews: Kevin, Karen, Bob (Lori), Laura (David), Lynn, Mike (Mary), Denise, and Lisa (Randy) - and many grandnieces and grandnephews; and Godmother to Lynn Stacey and Bob Hickey. After meeting her second husband the late Jack Dailey, she became the loving stepmother to Kathryn Dailey (Charlie), John Dailey (Robbie) and Dan Dailey (Suzy). She deeply loved her grandchildren: Rob, Rebecca, Amy, Jeffrey, Maria, John, Addison and Jackie. Mary Jean graduated from St. David Catholic High School on Outer Drive in Detroit, which was right next to where she grew up. Her and her family lived in the back of the neighborhood grocery store, Hickey - Parish Market. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and a longtime member of the Gaelic League of Detroit. She and Kathy were extremely close, and one of her favorite memories was their trip together to Ireland. Her last few years were spent at Beechwood Manor where the entire staff took such great care of her, especially: Hillary, Patty, Candice, Jeanie, Jennifer, Kim, Lisa, and Ric. The team at Residential Hospice also did an amazing job, particularly: Vickie, Tom and Carrie. Memorial Mass will be said at St. Bonaventure Monastery at the Father Solanus Casey Center on Monday, June 24, 2019, 11:00 A.M.
