Mary Schmidt, aged 94, of Warren, MI went to be with the Lord at 8:30 am on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. She passed away comfortably, in her sleep at her daughter’s home in Troy. Wife of the late Franz Schmidt and mother of the late Barbara Schmidt. Survived by daughters Margaret Cox (Charles), Marilyn Andonisio (Robert) as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Beloved daughter of the late Josef and Margarete Klotzbier and sister of the late Eva Seeberger.
Born as Marianna Klotzbier on October 15, 1925 in Wiesenhaid, Romania, Mary survived the labor camps in Russia during WWII and immigrated to the United States in 1949. She worked hard her entire life until she retired to care for her grandchildren. She loved to bake, garden and crochet and was active in her church, St. Faustina. She was a long-time member of the Carpathia Club and enjoyed playing cards until her last day.
Mary, known by most as Oma, will be deeply missed by her entire family and friends.
