Maureen "Mo" McCabe

Maureen was born to parents Joseph & Helen Clifford on March 7, 1940, making her the third child to her parents. She graduated from Grosse Pointe South, and went on to work at a local bakery, where she eventually fell in love with baking, but even more so, decorating. She made every cake for every family holiday or occasion. Maureen was always an artist. She painted on any flat surface she could get her hands on. She painted on mailboxes, and one of her paintings even ended up being the design to a dear friend’s wedding invitations.

Eventually, Maureen met the love of her life, Delbert McCabe, and they were married in 1975. The next 17 years of Maureen’s life were bliss. She and Del enjoyed square dancing together, camping, and making new friends. When Del passed in 1992, Maureen’s focus shifted towards her furry companions. She adored her dogs, but she found companionship and comfort in them.

Later on in life, Maureen eventually became a resident of American House in Troy. Her love of meeting new people was only fed more as she settled into her routine at American House. She enjoyed helping the other residents, and spending time with them. Though, she would create one friendship that she would hold close to her heart, and that was her dear friend, Kathy.

Maureen was truly a light in this world, and will be deeply missed.

Maureen is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Helen Clifford; dear brother, Pat Clifford, as well as loving husband, Delbert McCabe. She is survived by her cherished siblings; Joe (Karen) Clifford and Marie (The Late Greg) Aljets; adored nieces and nephews, Carrie (Brian), Kevin (Rebecca), Colleen (Randy), Patrick (Tina), Mike (Rose), Steven (Betsy), Kristen (Gary), and Tommy (Shannon), as well as many cherished great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial visitation for Mo will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan 48236, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
