Michael John Duffy

Michael John Duffy Age 66, passed away on November 11, 2008 after his third battle with leukemia. Mike is survived by his loving wife Karen, son Michael John Duffy Jr. (Lena), daughter Erin Duffy Mercer (Clark), step daughters Tracy Raona (Joe) and Lindsay Hengel. Dear brother of Patricia Cappy (Joe), Kathy Doherty (Tim), Christine Duffy, and Timothy Duffy (Judy). Loving Poppy to Rice, Teaghan, Liam, Mats, Luciano and Santino. Predeceased by Janice L. Duffy and his parents Gertrude and Melvin Duffy. Mike was extremely proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps. Building on his experience from the military, Mike started and operated a successful business. He was a member of the Grosse Pointe Crisis Club and gave generously to the community. He was a great hockey player, a fearless snowboarder, and enjoyed winning a few bucks off his best friends in a game of golf. He loved travelling with Karen and in the past three years they visited Europe, The Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Canada, and took a road trip across the U.S. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2008, 11:00 a.m., at St. Philomena Catholic Church, 4500 Marseilles Street, Detroit, MI 48224. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202 or to the Grosse Pointe Crisis Club.
