Michael Casmere Pruss

Michael Casmere Pruss, age 87 died peacefully at Shorepointe Nursing Center in St. Clair Shores. He was formerly of Grosse Pointe Woods and Sault Ste. Marie, Canada. Michael was born June 2, 1921 in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, the son of Katherine and George Pruss. Michael served in the U.S. Army and in the Corp of Engineers in North Africa. Later he sailed the Great Lakes for the Merchant Marine, started an entrepreneurship as a tugboat captain, and ended his working career as a stationary engineer for the Budd Wheel Company in Detroit, Michigan. Michael loved all things nautical and hockey, especially the Detroit Red Wings. Later in life he enjoyed tending to his miniature fruit trees. He participated for many years as a 32nd Degree Mason. Michael is survived by his daughter Susan (Joseph) Lafata; his son Michael Craig (Terry) Pruss; and his grandson Michael Vincent Lafata. He was predeceased by his wife Norma Z. and his brother Frederick. Interment will be in St. John's Dixie Cemetery in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
