Naomi Ruth Apollonio

The family of Naomi Ruth Apollonio (née Click) is saddened to announce her passing on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 10:17pm in Clinton Twp, MI at 90 years old. Naomi was born in Sneedville, TN in 1935 to Wiley and Ruby (Jones) Click, and was the eldest sibling of five (5) children. Naomi was preceded in death by her sister Virginia (Bill) Cruise, Esther Click, and Clyde Click. She is survived by her only daughter, Gloria (Kevin) Conti, her grandson Fiori (Danielle) Conti, her grandson Nico Conti, her great grandson Giovanni Conti, and her sister Polly (Russ) White.

Naomi had a passion and a gift for southern cooking, and loved to share it with her family. She delighted in making her grandsons’ favorite meals on special occasions and often tied an old family story to each dish and recipe. Naomi also enjoyed learning her family’s history and telling the younger generations what she had discovered. From castles in Ireland and Scotland to her roots in the American South, Naomi loved to read the stories (both folktales and spoken history) that helped shape her family. A hard worker by trade, Naomi had a lengthy and successful career in the booming assembly line industry in Detroit, where she held many roles. There, she would work on the line and would later go on to manage a fully-staffed plating plant during a time when women didn’t often hold supervisory roles in this industry. Naomi also had a love of cats, which she attributed to seeing a bit of herself in their mischievous and stubborn nature. Harley, the cat that was with her during her final years, found a loving home with a friend of Gloria and Kevin’s. In her later years, her great grandson (Gio) would light up her face when he walked in the room, and she loved to hold him and laugh as he babbled and chased Harley around her room.

Naomi will be laid to rest at AH Peters Funeral Home (20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236) on Saturday, March 1 from 2-8pm. The funeral service will begin at 6:30pm. All are welcome to attend.
