Phyllis Therese Dedene

Phyllis Therese Dedene, age 95, passed away on May 26, 2023. Cherished wife to the late Julius “Duke” Dedene. Beloved mother to Gail (Patrick) Rice, Robert (the late Jane), Bruce (Susan), Michael (Becky), Lucy, Dianne (Terry) Sheridan, and Jerome (Karen). Adored grandmother to 18, great-grandmother to 25, and great-great grandmother to 2, and 1 on the way. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her siblings Helen Schmitz, Eugene Hoffman, and Alma Rooney.

Phyllis was born in Detroit, MI on January 16, 1928 to the late Eugene and the late Millie Hoffman. She attended Dominican High School and later met her loving husband, Julius “Duke” Dedene, and together they raised a beautiful family. Trusting in God to guide her, Phyllis had the honor of having the most precious job of all - raising 7 children. She found her joy in spending time with her family, her children and their children, and visiting with friends. Phyllis loved playing the piano and the organ, crocheting, playing card games, baking delicious apple pies, gardening, harvesting her raspberries and blackberries each year, perfecting the canning process - making the most delicious mixed-berry jam, and sharing it with others. Phyllis will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation for Phyllis will be on Thursday, June 1, from 1 PM until 8 PM, rosary at 7 PM, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.

A funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 2, at 10 AM, instate at 9:30 AM, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Roseville, MI.
