

Richard Esse Abdenour, age 87 passed away peacefully at home with his family on May 11, 2025. Richard was born on August 5th 1937 in Detroit, MI. to Wardy and Esse Abdenour of Detroit. Richard was the youngest of four children in the Abdenour family. Mary (Al), Tony (Sadie) and Sylvia (Al). They grew up in Detroit on the east side and then moved to East Detroit (East Pointe) in the late 1950's to a place that became known as "The House" to all of us. Richard went to Eastern High School, then College and then served in the National Guard in the early 60's. In 1960 Richard married Rhoda Ann Robinson and had three boys, John, David and Michael. They lived on the eastside of Detroit until 1970 and moved to Roseville, MI where they lived for almost 30 years.
Richard was employed in Route sales for his lifetime. He worked for Farm Crest, Wonder Bread, Sanders and finally Snyders of Hanover where he retired from.
Richard married Jannet Manney in 2001. They combined their two families into one. John (Margret), David, Michael (Jamie) Russ (Prudy), Tim (Kathy) and Tom (Theresa Lynn) . This made us into a family now of six children. Richard's grandchildren; Ashley (Tony), Megan, Katlin (Rob), Emily, Jessica, Michael, John, Andrea (Ryan) Stephen (Alexandra), Brian, Thomas Jr. (Kendall) along with his great-grandchildren Johnathan, Nora, Thomas and Kennedy. Richard also had two wonderful dogs in his life that meant the world to him, Pal (deceased) and Snowball that will run around with Jan going forward.
Richard and Jan had 24 years of marriage and happiness until his passing with Jan by his side on Sunday.
Richard was a lifetime member of the Cathedral Church of St Paul. He served on the Vestry several times and sang in the Cathedral choir of Men and Boys for over 30 years and the Cathedral Chamber Choir for many years.
He loved all sports teams in the State of Michigan. Mostly the Red Wings, Tigers, Lions, Pistons and the Michigan Wolverines.
Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate a great life well lived at his visitation on May 20, 3-8pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home at 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. A prayer service will take place from 730pm to 750pm.
The Funeral is the following day on May 21st at St Paul's Cathedral 4800 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI. at 11am. Richard will lie in state from 1015am to 1045am
The Family is inviting you to a luncheon at Lakeland Manor at 26211 Harper ST. Clair Shores, MI directly following the Funeral.
Richard will be cremated and Interned at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul in the column burial in Grace Chapel at a later date to be announced.
