

Robert L. Crowder, age 90, died peacefully on February 8, 2016 at the Wm. Beaumont Hospital in Troy. Robert was born on August 6, 1925 in Detroit, the son of Robert Sr. and Iva Crowder. Robert served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army during World War II. Robert earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of Detroit, and his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Michigan. He was employed at the Ford Motor Company as head of dealership liquidations, working in Dearborn and at the Renaissance Center in Detroit. Bob was an avid golfer, loved dancing and enjoyed dining out at fine restaurants. He also loved the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of the Grosse Pointe Rotary Club, the Senior Men's Club of Grosse Pointe and the Villagers Dance Club. Mr. Crowder is survived by his four children; Lynda Bachteal (Robert), Sharon Harris, Robert Crowder III (Sharon) and Daniel Crowder; his four grandchildren; Brittany, Blake, Dustin and Lisa; and special friend Janet Graham. He was predeceased by his wife Sabina. Visitation for Mr. Crowder will be from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church, 170 McMillan Road, Grosse Pointe Farms with the Rev. Denise M. Grant officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia. The family has suggested memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or to St. James Lutheran Church.
