

Bob was born in Detroit and attended St. Mary’s of Redford School. He and his parents, Frank and Nellie Marsden, later moved to Manhattan Beach, California, where he attended Redondo Union High School. He graduated from Millikin College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and then earned a Master of Arts degree from Ohio University. He had a varied and interesting teaching career at the secondary and university levels, culminating in a career lasting more than 40 years with the Roseville Community Schools, Roseville,
Michigan, where he taught English, speech and drama and directed plays and forensic activities. After retiring as a full-time teacher, he taught in the Roseville district’s alternate school, led photography classes and seminars in adult education there, and taught speech as an adjunct professor at Oakland Community College.
Bob was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and served as a lector for many years at St. Barnabas Church in Eastpointe, Michigan. He contributed to his community through his artistic talents and volunteer activities and was loved by his many students, colleagues, and friends.
Bob was the beloved husband of Jane and the dear father of seven children: Pam Marsden (the late Peter Siragusa), Cynthia Glazer (Michael), James (Tania Petrulis), Monica Mueller (Steven), Heather Marsden (Danny Stallcup), Beverly Adams (Erik), and Stephen Marsden. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 20475 Sunningdale Park, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
