Bob was a man of quiet strength, deep faith, and generous love. He lived his life guided by Christian values and a strong devotion to the Catholic Church, with faith that was not only personal but encouraging, as he inspired others with his service and kindness.
Bob grew up in Grosse Pointe Farms, attending St. Paul’s Catholic Church School. As a young man, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving five years during the Korean War aboard a destroyer, where he ran the ship’s store. After his military service, Bob attended Ferris State College with plans to return to the Navy as an officer. It was there that he met the love of his life, Geri. Their bond was so strong that Bob redirected his path to one centered on marriage and family.
Bob and Geri married and raised their family in the Detroit area. Bob built a successful career in the furniture industry, first as a retail furniture store owner and later as an independent manufacturers’ representative, where he was respected for his fairness, integrity, and willingness to share his knowledge to help others succeed.
Together, Bob and Geri embraced life fully. They enjoyed tennis, golf, ballroom dancing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family, as well as wintering in Florida. Later in life, they moved to Caseville, Michigan, where they found great joy living on Lake Huron. There, Bob and Geri made the most of lake life through boating, fishing, welcoming guests for summer days on the water, and building a close-knit community of friends who became like family. Their home on the lake was a place of laughter, connection, and lasting memories.
Above all, Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a man who treated everyone with dignity and respect. His commitment to family, faith, and community defined his life and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Bob was the beloved husband of Geraldine “Geri” (Heiney) McEachin, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage until her passing in 2008. He was a loving father to Debbie Billiet, the late Shellie Krupa (2023), and Sherrie McCullough (Glenn). He was a proud grandfather to Brad Billiet (Gina), Rachael Billiet, Lindsay Billiet, Britney Krupa (Michael Leslie), Shannon McCullough (Sean Dolan), and Jamie Schimers (Chris), and a cherished great-grandfather of five, Tyler Billiet, Caledon Schimers, Maebel Schimers, Marissa Steele, Charles Leslie.
Bob is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Helhowski (Jim) and Sue Nichols (the late Gerald), and his brother, Patrick McEachin (Carolyn). He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Mildred (Piche) McEachin, and his sisters, Gail Miller and Sr. Beverly McEachin.
Bob will lie in state On Saturday, Jan 24th from 9:30am until his funeral mass begins at 10am at St. Pauls On The Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lake Shore Rd., Grosse Pointe Farms, MI.
