

Robert Slottke passed away on June 23, 2013 at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy at the age of 88. He was born on May 4, 1925 in Detroit; son of Rudolph and Erna (nee Mueller) Slottke. Mr. Slottke retired from the Detroit Police Department in 1972 as a Homicide Inspector. He was a proud veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army Air Corp. He was an active member of the VFW Post 1278. He was an avid golfer and bowler. Bob was hard working and was very ethical. He was very loyal to family, friends and co-workers. He was a devout Christian reading the Bible almost daily. He was a life-long member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Eastpointe, where he was baptized. Mr. Slottke was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, his brother Henry, and grandson Luke. He leaves behind his loving children Carol Slottke (Perry Hardley), Jean Tymczak (John), Susan Slottke, Robert, Ronald (Melissa), Mary Slottke (Dr. Todd Watson), and Martha Sieja (Jeff). He was proud of his ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is survived by his sisters Elizabeth Zeidler and Ruth Zynda. He will be missed by his dear friend and long-time companion Lucille Klebba. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Wednesday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. He will lie instate on Thursday at 10:00 am until the time of his funeral at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 23801, Kelly Rd., Eastpointe. Reverend Mark Hetzner will officiate. He will be cremated and interred with his wife at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
