

Ronald W. Pavlovich, age 79, died peacefully on January 31, 2013 at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit from complications following surgery. He was born on December 19, 1933 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania the son of John and Helen Pavlovich. When Ron was 10 years old, his family moved to St. Clair Shores and Ron completed his education here, graduating from Lakeview High School in 1951. Ron worked at Chrysler Corporation's Jefferson Avenue Assembly from 1951-1955 where he was an apprentice millwright. He served his country from 1956 through 1958 in the United States Army. When he returned home, Ron worked for a short time at the Bower Roller Bearing Company in Detroit. It was there that he met Myrna Brazelton who he eventually married on October 22, 1960 at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores. Later on, Mr. Pavlovich resumed his career at Chrysler working at the tank plant on Van Dyke in Warren. The ownership changed to General Dynamics and he retired from there in 1994. Ron loved to tinker around the house. He was a master fix-it man for family and friends. He also enjoyed an occasional visit to the casino. He was known as "Paps" to his grandchildren whom he adored. He will be remembered as a family man, loving and doting on his children and grandchildren. He was described as trustworthy, a man who was generous with his time and treasurers, non-judgmental and protective of the underdog. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Myrna; his three children, Edward (Sharon), John (Kim) and Connie Laprairie (Paul); six grandchildren, Reece, Brynne, Yecica and Zoraya Pavlovich and Calle and Taylor Laprairie; and by his dear brother, Edward J. Pavlovich. Visitation for Mr. Pavlovich will be held on Monday from 2:00 to 9:00 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. A scripture service will begin at 7 o'clock Monday evening. His body will lie instate at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 23401 Jefferson Avenue, St. Clair Shores from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until mass begins at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. James Commyn will officiate. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to the Fr. Solanus Casey Guild, 1780 Mt. Elliott, Detroit 48207.
