Rosemary was born Rosemary Joan Shea to James Clarence and Margaret Joan Shea on March 3rd, 1954. Growing up in Detroit, MI she attended St. David’s grade and high school until its closure, eventually graduating from Bishop Gallagher High School. Rosemary married Richard Seery in 1982 and had two children, Brian James and Lauren Elizabeth. Rich and Rose were divorced in 1992. Rosemary returned to college and graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in psychology.
Rose had a long career in the medical field. She worked for many years at Henry Ford Hospital in various capacities, including in the oncology department. This work prepared her well for the next chapter in her career as she joined the pharmaceutical industry managing drug studies for cancer patients. Rosemary was proud of her work and she was very good at it.
Rose was an excellent cook, homemade chicken noodle soup on Christmas Eve was a staple. She enjoyed walking and a good book, especially if they could be enjoyed on the westside of the state overlooking Lake Michigan. She would definitely say that all of those things were better in the company of her family and friends. In her later years, watching her grandchildren run around was also a favorite pastime.
Rosemary contracted cancer almost 10 years ago and battled with ferocious tenacity. Her knowledge of oncology and cancer treatment served her well as she actively managed her care. She was beloved by her doctors for toughness.
She is survived by her three siblings Margaret (Dennis), Pat (Betsy), and Cathy (Mike). Her daughter Lauren (Charles), her son Brian (Katherine) and two grandchildren Connor and Eli.
A visitation for Rosemary will be held Monday, March 13, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan 48236, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM.
