I just wanted to offer my condolences for your loss. Russ was my room mate for quite a while when we were in the Marine Corps together. I have great memories of him and our time together. Ann im so sorry for the loss, i just seen russ the day before the accdient working like he always does he was finally "bitching" to my ear for once! All over him working wayyyyyy too much! Ann he told me he worked sooooooo hard, so he could give his wife and kids the world! i felt his pain, he said he wanted you and the kids never have to worry about a thing and now look what you just did russ! With the 15 yrs ive known russ and u! i kno he loved u with alllll his heart! everytime we'd go out and talk he'd always talk bout his wife YOU! ANN how lucky of a guy he was to have a wife like you! russ, you and ann and the boys are family to us. we love you and we have many great memories. our nights out are what most people would only catch in a movie. we have lived, we have lived. your wife ann is one of a kind and we know she is , was, and always will be your everything. everytime jr and i look at our tattoos, your artwork, we think of you, everytime we think of true love, we will think of you and ann. ann and i have always known what we have from you and jr is rare and special and we always will only love you guys. just like you guys only loved/love us. your boys are special and that is because they have special parents. and they will always have us. we love u russ. we love u ann, we love u boys.

It is so hard to put into words how much Russ meant to us. Jason looked at him as a big brother. Russ's heart was a big as they come. He has touched so many lives in so many ways. He is someone that I can say that I am truly blessed to have known and will treasure every memory. Madisyn said he is in heaven trying to convince Jesus to get a tattoo. I still remember the first day I met him......

Russ taught me how to tattoo back in 1995 at Sacred Scar in Big Rapids. He brought me into the industry and introduced me to my career. I 've been a business owner for 11 years, absolutely love my career and I owe it all to Russ. Thank you my friend.

Rest in paradise Russ, nothing will ever be the same without you. You were the kindest person i have ever met and did so much for everyone. Newport will never be the same since you left but i look forward to seeing you in the afterlife, Stay gold up there and i'll be seein ya. Love you Russ

Russ was such a strong confident person. When i first started as his apprentice i remember passing him on my way to the gas staion to grab someone a water, i was staring at the ground as i walked and as he passed me he gave me a smile and said "Hey, hold your head high, your proud. no reason not to be, ya know?" At the time i didnt know him well, and it meant a lot to me. I am forever thankful to have learned my trade from such a great man. and the art on my arm he gave me. RIP Russ.

May he RIP. I did not know this man, but I send my thoughts to him and his family.

Sadly I only had the pleasure of meeting this great man once. He was full of life and smiles. He was ready to take a chance on me to make me a great artist like him. I only needed to meet him once to kno what a joyful soul he really was. It was wonderful to get a look into his blessed life. My heart is heavy for all that knew the biker, artist, marine, family man and much much more.

I don't know Russ, but I wanted to share my condolences to his family, community, friends and customers. I feel the Earth has lost a good person. May our God look at his child Russ and grant him eternal piece and happiness.

Though I did not know Mr. Gray, hearing the story and witnessing the awe inspiring procession today as it past by I felt compelled to express my most sincerest condolences to his family and friends. I did not need to know Mr Gray to see how deeply he is loved and respected by all that know him. My prayers go out to you all.

Although I had just met Russ and Ann this past February , I can truly say they were one of the nicest couples I have ever met . I was heart broken to hear of Russ's passing, another great man gone before his time. I did do work on their new home and found that Russ and I shared a Passion for Firearms !!! When we talked about it we had smiles from ear to ear ... He said check this out and we sat on the floor of his office looking at his collection LOL my lord he has great taste I'm firepower. That is a memory I will always and forever have . To Ann if you ever need anything around the house fixed call Paul !!! . I'm so sorry for the loss of Russ,I meet him when he had a shop in Big Rapids,Mi., He did some great work on my back,the work he did means the world to me,I lost my mom in 1985 and the work he did helped me thru alot of the pain and hard times I look at my back everyday and think I was blessed to have meet Russ he understud why I put myself thru the pain of so many tats at one time. Russ did a great Tat of my Great Dane Sage on my back that dog was very special to me and Russ did me a favor by saving my life with his work,Russ knows what I'm talking about. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Russ... something about him, a sweetness deep down ... even though our paths haven't crossed for years, my kids still think of him as Uncle Russ and we share in your heart break. As for that tattoo I always wanted him to do for me, guess i'll have to be patient and wait for the next life. I can feel him shining on....

A few years ago I was blessed to go on vacation, diving in the Bahamas for a week with Russ. There was a hurricane that week and we didn't get to do much diving. The trip was a disaster, but I still had a great time because of Russ, who would constantly crack me up. Not many people in the world can make me laugh like that. Thank you, Russ. Im writing on behalf of my husband that Russ did his first tattoo on his right arm of a gladiator helmet at the Cherry Bomb Tattoo Shop where he still goes and gets work done by Jamie Taparek.
