Sandra Louise Licata

Sandra Louise Licata passed away after a long illness at St. John Hospital in Detroit with her family at her side. She was born in Grosse Pointe on August 5, 1947, the daughter of Mario and Martha Darder. Sandra was a very strong selfless woman, always putting others before herself. She liked to collect gemstones, reading and trips up north. Trips to casinos and visiting Maceday Lake in Waterford were favorite places to visit as well. Cooking for her family and doting on her grandchildren was above all. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Her family described her as a great listener who always had the right answers. Sandra is survived by her beloved husband Frank, her children Matthew (fianc Kristen), Jason, Nicholas (husband Robert Dziurda), and Melissa Brown (Andy). She was the loving grandmother of Jacob, Madison and Grantham. Her sisters Elizabeth Darder and Francesca Schmitt also survive her. She is predeceased by her parents Mario and Martha Darder brother Mario Darder . Visitation for Mrs. Licata will take place on Friday from 2 until 8 pm with a Scripture Service 7 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods. She will lie in state Saturday 9:30 am until time the funeral Mass 10 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. The family has requested memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
