Sarah Jane “Sally” Delaney, age 86, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 18, 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Charles and Mary Josephine Bacciocco, Sally was the middle child in a bustling family of nine children. She met James R. Delaney, Jr. during her college years in Cincinnati. They later married and moved to Detroit to build their life and family together.
Sally's greatest legacy is the seven strong children she raised, a family that grew to include 23 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was the heart of the family, known for her uncanny memory of everyone’s birthdays, making sure each person felt truly special and remembered.
Sally was an avid reader and loved doing puzzles of all kinds. She was also a devoted lover of all things furry; every pet she owned was showered with unconditional love and attention. No matter the occasion, Sally was never seen without her perfectly polished red nails, her signature splash of color.
Sally was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles and Mary Josephine Bacciocco, as well as her brother, Charles Bacciocco Jr. “Mo” and sister, Claire Tully “Sugie”.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving sisters, Carolyn, Mary Josephine “Jogie”, Anne, Betsy, Susan, and Cindy; her children and their spouses, Mary Kathleen “Kathy”, James and wife Lorri, Patrick and wife Diana, Michael and wife Jutta, Susan and husband David, Sarah “Sally” and husband Darvin, Mary Elizabeth “Molly” and husband Jesse; 23 grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, James, Carson, Ryan, Kyle, Adam, Shane, Clare, Tyler, Jason, Kara, Vincent, Matilda, Taylor, Eric, Jessica, Matthew, Miranda, Chloe, Maxwell, Madison and Collin; and four great-grandchildren, James, Delaney, Quinn, and Maverick.
