Anie was born December 6, 1989 at St. John Hospital in Detroit, MI. She was the beloved second-born daughter of Gary and Krista Driscoll. She was predeceased by her father, Gary Driscoll, and grandparents Frank and May Krager as well as Thomas and Bette Driscoll. She will be deeply missed by her mother, Krista Driscoll, sister and brother-in-law, Alix and Michael Rourke, her adoring nephews, Miles and Landon Rourke, her Uncles and Aunts, Franz (Deborah) Krager, Karla (Jim) Derkacz, David (Kathleen) Driscoll, as well as all of her other wonderful family members and friends.
Anie (nicknamed so by her sister shortly after her birth), grew up in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI where she attended Monteith Elementary, Parcells Middle and Grosse Pointe North High School. She was a joyful and immensely talented child, particularly when it came to music. She worked with her grandmother, May, a music teacher, to learn several different instruments but found her calling with the trumpet. At just 7 years old, she was invited to participate in the High School Honors and Jazz Bands and studied privately with a music professor at the University of Michigan.
After losing her father following her high school graduation, she postponed her planned enrollment at the University of Michigan. She later attended college there, with the intent to major in English due to her love of writing. Not for a lack of ability, she decided to drop out and moved to Traverse City, MI, where she had spent summers with her family for many years. It was there she began her quick ascent to Executive Chef at the Grand Traverse Resort’s Aerie Restaurant and Lounge. Her ability and enthusiasm in the kitchen were astounding for someone so young, and several features were published in northern Michigan periodicals regarding her prowess in the industry.
She continued her career in the food industry at several different locations, including as Executive Chef at the Stony Point Pub in Suttons Bay, and at the Bronze Door in Grosse Pointe. Her latest endeavor was making and distributing home-made soups to her “Souper Group” of family, friends and neighbors.
She was a skilled artist, enjoying drawing in her sketchbook, and later developing a love of photography, particularly of the city of Detroit, which she showcased at a local art show at Saint Andrew’s Hall in 2019.
Anie, more than anything, loved spending time with her family, particularly her nephews, Miles and Landon. She had an incredible sense of humor, always armed with a joke or witty comment. She enjoyed sports and politics and could carry on a conversation with anyone.
She had a deep and unrelenting love for animals, particularly her own – Kevin, her English bulldog, who passed in 2024; Harley, her adopted cat; Many colorful and exotic fish; And most recently, Ozzy, a French bulldog and her loyal companion during her most challenging last months.
A memorial service will be held at A.H. Peters Funeral Home in Grosse Pointe Woods on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2:30pm (service to begin at 4:00pm).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Motor City Mitten Mission (https://www.motorcitymittenmission.org/) or The Humane Society (https://www.humanesociety.org/).
