

Viola Maisel passed away peacefully at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak on July 26, 2014 at the age of 92. She was born in Detroit on April 21, 1922; daughter of Karl and Olga (nee Jacowleff) Maile. Viola graduated from the University of Michigan's business college in 1944. Shortly after WWII she married Albert Maisel at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church in Detroit on July 14, 1950. They enjoyed 57 wonderful years together until Albert's passing in 2007. Viola was a modest woman by nature. She was an avid bridge player and was brilliant with numbers and money matters. She was a member of AAUW. She was the best mother ever and will be missed by her family. She leaves behind her loving son Gary and daughter Karen Haynes (Jeffrey). She was proud of her grandchildren Mark and Peter Haynes, Steven and Laura Maisel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Viola's family will receive guests at 11:00 am Wednesday and her funeral service will begin at Noon with Reverend William Adams officiating. There will be a funeral procession to Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley where Viola will be laid to rest next to her beloved Albert. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 20300 Civic Center Dr., Suite 100, Southfield, MI 48076-4166.
