I am very sorry to hear about dr. Belenky, doctor did a very rare surgery on our son Jeremy in 1981 that gave us 26 years with our son he passed away in 2007. I will always remember dr smiling and joking with our son it is something we will never forget God bless the family

My sympathy to Dr. Belenky's family. He performed surgery twice on my son and treated him for some 30 years. He was loving and compassionate to him and it was a joy to have him as Matt's ENT doctor. My son was handicapped and passed away last year at the age of 45. I will never forget Dr. Belenky"s kindness.

THIS MAN. He was our angel on earth for many, many years, and we were so blessed to have him. You see, this is our beloved ENT from Children's Hospital of Michigan, Dr. Belenky. We first met him in 2005 when Luca needed tubes in his ears as a toddler...while I was pregnant with Vinny. I truly believe that chance meeting of getting Luca matched with Dr. Belenky was actually divine intervention for what was to come. When Vinny was born a few months later, he was born with no nasal airway. This is a life threatening condition called choanal atresia. After 8 days of life and continual misdiagnoses at another hospital, we transferred Vinn to Children's Hospital of Michigan in downtown Detroit. Dr. Belenky was already known to our family, so he was assigned as Vinny's ENT. It was him... this brilliant, kind, trailblazing doctor that took Travis and I into a room after examining Vinny's anatomy under anesthesia (we didn't know what being brought into a room actually meant at that point in our journey) and broke the news to us that not only did Vinny have CHARGE Syndrome, but he had one of the most impressive cases of bilateral, bony choanal atresia he had ever seen in his years as a pediatric ENT. We were shocked, terrified, devastated, and didn't really know what to do with all of that information. Dr. Belenky was so honest with us and helped us process this new knowledge about our beautiful son. He also became a champion for Vinny's care. To make a very long story short, he told us that he was going to do whatever he had to do to give Vinny a real chance. And that, he most certainly did.ðŸ’š He seemingly pioneered a procedure that created a nasal airway for Vinny so he didn't have to have a tracheostomy. He also made the decision, with our permission, to perform this procedure while Vinny was being treated for bacterial endocarditis... not a call many surgeons or physicians would make. But he kept saying, "We need to give Vinny a real chance." We trusted him, and we believed in him. As many of you know, Vinny is now a thriving 11 year old--loved by so many--who 100% would NOT be where he is today had Dr. Belenky not been his physician. We've always said that Dr. Belenky is Vinny's angel on earth. Now, he's an angel in heaven. The medical community and all of his patients will undoubtedly miss him, and I'm sure his loving family will miss him beyond measure as well. Praying for all who knew and loved him today. What an amazing human being.ðŸ’š

Dr. Belenky helped our daughter with her ear problems. I remember what a kind and gentle Doctor he was and how comforted he made our child as well as us feel when she needed surgery. Our family always really thought highly of him. I read in his obituary that he was a graduate of Detroit Country Day School. Our daughter will be proud to know this even more so that she now attends the same school. Condolences and blessings to your family during this difficult time.

I had worked with Walter for many years at Childrens Hospital of Michigan. I always admired and respected him. He was a great surgeon and a wonderful person, always a pleasure to work with.He will be greatly missed. My deep condolences to the family.

So sorry for the death of your dear Father. May all you cherished and happy memories of him, help you through this difficult time. No wonder the Bible refers to death as our enemy (1 Corinthians 15:26).

Walter was a good friend and superb colleague from our first meeting in 1977 until not all that long ago. I was so glad we were all able to honor him while he could still appreciate it. He was a superb surgeon and a great pioneer and innovator.
